Honey Jewel is a golden raspberry with shiny lemon-yellow fruit and a distinctive sweet-tart flavor. It is an everbearing, primocane-fruiting variety that produces an early crop followed by a larger mid-season flush.
The fruit is medium-sized and easy to pick, with a bright golden color that makes it stand out from traditional red raspberry varieties. The flavor is very good, with a noticeable acidic zing that balances the sweetness.
Honey Jewel plants are medium-sized, making them a practical choice for home gardens where gardeners want golden raspberries without an especially large or difficult-to-manage plant. The variety has also been selected for useful disease characteristics, including moderate to high resistance to powdery mildew and orange rust.
Because Honey Jewel is primocane-fruiting, it can produce its main crop on the current season’s canes. This makes it possible to grow the plants for a single late-season crop by cutting the canes back during winter, or retain older canes where an additional crop is desired.
Honey Jewel is part of ION’s exclusive raspberry program and is not as widely available as established varieties such as Heritage. Its combination of golden fruit, good flavor and multiple harvest periods makes it a distinctive choice for home gardens and small-scale berry production.
