Seascape

Strawberries

Seascape was released by the University of California breeding program in 1992. The variety is a day-neutral variety, meaning it will flower and fruit regardless of day length, making it a good choice for spring, summer and fall gardens. The berries are large, firm and have good flavor when picked ripe from the plant. Seascape is considered amongst the best flavored day-neutral varieties available.

Sweetness that doesn't quit in July

Why growers keep coming back

Seascape is a classic day-neutral strawberry released from the University of California breeding program in the early 1990s. It was developed from the UC breeding lines Selva and Douglas and became known for its combination of long-season production, strong flavor and good fruit quality.

Unlike June-bearing strawberries that produce one concentrated crop, Seascape can continue flowering and fruiting regardless of day length. This makes it particularly useful for gardeners who want fresh strawberries over a longer portion of the growing season.

The fruit is large, firm and flavorful when fully ripe. Seascape is frequently noted for its strong flavor among day-neutral cultivars. University research has also found it productive across a range of growing conditions.

Seascape has a generally useful disease-resistance profile, although disease pressure can still vary considerably with climate. Good drainage, full sun and consistent moisture are important. In hot regions, some afternoon protection can help reduce heat stress and maintain fruit quality.

Because Seascape is relatively compact and can remain evergreen in frost-free climates, it is also adaptable to raised beds and containers as well as traditional garden beds.
